A place to get involved in a community interested in shaping the future church.
Insight Portal
Welcome to the Insight Portal. We are thrilled to have you here as valuable members of our church’s future-shaping community. Your input and insights are incredibly important as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of the Canadian context. This space is intended to offer Christian leaders from across Atlantic Canada (and beyond) an opportunity to gather our collective wisdom as we gaze towards the future of the church (local and global) together.
HOW IT WORKS
Leaders are invited to share future insights which could be a ‘hunch’ or a morsel of knowledge which you see as shaping the church currently or in the future. Future insights can be drawn from articles, books, news articles, blog posts, videos, etc. and help to illuminate current trends, or contain new, unique, and potentially emerging ideas relevant to the future church.
Trend: Trends have recognizable, historical, and visible paths and impacts. Often, they can be verified by quantitative and qualitative data.
Emerging Ideas: Emerging Ideas represent a potential emerging (not yet established) idea, technology, social practice, or concept which could impact the Church.
We believe that collectively, we can grow in wisdom and awareness of what is happening in the world around us, and then engage in spirit-led discernment and theological reflection to consider what this means for the church.
Recognizing that all contexts and leaders are different, we are inviting pastors and Christian leaders to share any type of resources which they think speak to the future of the Church using the form below.
Once you have completed the form, a Futuring Hub staff will review the signal. The resources and content will be reviewed and are intended to support Christian Leaders to confidently, thoughtfully, and prayerfully consider the potential implications to their context and to enhance their capacity for spirit-led futures thinking.
If your signal is approved, you will be contacted by a Hub staff. Your insights could be added to the Compass or other online content. These decisions will be made in partnership with you.
Futures research is a systematic and interdisciplinary approach to studying and understanding potential future developments and trends. It involves analyzing various factors, such as societal changes, technological advancements, and cultural shifts, to anticipate and prepare for possible future scenarios.
Future insights are drawn from blog posts, books, podcasts, articles, movies, etc. There isn’t an exact science to deciding ‘is this a future insight’. Therefore, we welcome any and all insights. Anything that makes you pause and consider the future is a worth sharing.
